Face the Fear

Just woke up and started putting words together before this experience fade away from my mind. Discussion over breakfast table took us away from metro jungle into the real jungles. This time it was to face the fear , In rafting, In rapling ; into the deep valley of Dandeli;
Journey was good , all side / upper births, train delayed as usual , day started with gupshup over property investment like any other day in bangalore. When we reached at 8:30 , two Trax were waiting for us to take to "Stanleys Farm", Its quiet place with basic amenities and tasty kitchen. After food we went for rafting, In Kali river's roaring waves for rafting...Rafting for 1.5 hrs for stretch of 9-11 km as a TEAM, holding together,rescuing each other, splashing water, waves, bumps, fearsome speed and adrenaline....Learned commands like "Left backward, Right forward" , "ALL get down". For 1.5 hour only thought was to survive, natures basic instinct to survive overtook all emotions,thoughts and filled mind with silence. I felt like, I just woke up after deep sleep. It filled new confidence in us.
  • When you challenge your limits they give you bliss, I learned.
  • When you are 100% into something there is no chance of any % left for other things, I learned.
Next challenge was raplling, Believe me, housewives who will fear to jump from 2 feet sofa jumped 90-120 feet deep valley while facing the fear, First impression on seeing the place was: Its impossible , are you out of mind , I cant even think of climbing that high, we have kids , family, we do not have control over the things..why to risk, I'am better with my fear.
  • Fear finds excuses. I learned.
  • Life does not give you any control, you think you are in control thats false Ego.

Somehow we gather the courage to go there, one does it, second does it, I think it can be tried, slowly you dont even know when you are ready...yes I am doing it...slowly thoughts convert to I can do it , let me try ..Very good you are half way thru somebody from down encourages...I just did it..see the face beaming with joy, I want to try it again. Real happiness lies in challenging your limits but not in comfort zones, I learned. When you challenge your limits they give you bliss, I learned. We all had one thing in common , we wanted to Face our fear and overcome it. This outing was one unique one. Night we stayed in small tents, under hot sky, fortunately there were no much mosquietoes and when we slept after tiresome day we did not realized when we slept. Next day there were different opinions on what to do for that day, because we did not declared plan for that day in advance.

  • Communication is most important thing in team I Iearned. Believing the leader is most important thing in team I Iearned. He know your strengths, weakness and know where you fit in puzzle. He has plan for everybody since he has more visibility than any body else.
We divided in two groups, One group enjoyed scenic beauty and another group rafting - one more time. Those who were not part of game have no idea what they missed. We are setting our benchmarks high for each passing quarter. We are the only team who has converted this idea of small team outing into real team building excercise.
